Stewardship

“If we are to be stewards of our environment, we must understand sustainability and build sustainable practices into our internal office operations and our external service offerings.” — David Evans

Stewardship and Sustainability at DEA

DEA’s Core Purpose statement is, "To improve the quality of life while demonstrating stewardship of the built and natural environments."

How does DEA define stewardship?

DEA’s commitment to stewardship requires it to be a caretaker of the world. As a caretaker, DEA must be responsible for the economic, environmental, and social consequences of its actions. Sustainability practices and programs are the vehicles through which DEA demonstrates stewardship.

Why we work: to improve the quality of life

Stewardship is as integral to our core purpose as a river is to a watershed. It goes to the heart and soul of what makes us tick. It’s a value we live every day, in ways both large and small.

At DEA, we define stewardship as a mandate to be a caretaker of the world. That means taking responsibility for the economic, environmental and social consequences of our actions. And it means employing sustainable practices in our own operations and in our work for clients.

Our Corporate Social Responsibility Annual Report chronicles the tangible progress we are making, from reducing our environmental footprint, to purchasing Green Tags, to partnering with clients to build projects that incorporate sustainable principles.
