Palm Desert Civic Center Park

DEA provided landscape architecture, irrigation design, civil engineering, and surveying for this $9.3 million, 70-acre park project for the city of Palm Desert, Calif.

Phases I and II of the project included a lagoon, waterfalls, fountains, picnic shelters, playground and tot lots, restrooms, play courts, trails, gardens, and parking facilities. Phase III included additional picnic shelters, four lighted ballfields, two soccer fields, a concession building with restrooms, and jogging and biking trails. All major park features comply with ADA requirements, including the amphitheater stage.

There are three entranceways to the site and the 2.2 miles of jogging trails were designed to connect the entranceways with the Park’s passive and active elements. The site is irrigated from a one-acre lagoon and plants were selected for extreme heat tolerance.
